Dermaplaning can help minimize the appearance of acne scars, fine lines, wrinkles and dull skin. The procedure can reveal smoother, firmer and healthier skin to give that ultimate glow.
Including Cleanse, Tone and prep, followed post treatment with Luxury SPF Moisturiser.
Dermaplaning is a minimally invasive cosmetic procedure for your skin which creates smoother and more youthful looking skin. It works by removing and exfoliating the very top layer of your skin where there is evidence of scars (e.g. from acne), fine lines, and some blemishes from sun-damage. Your Practitioner skillfully skims the surface of the skin using an exfoliating blade. As well as the top layer of skin, it also removes the vellus (peach fuzz) hair giving the ultimate glow. Dermaplaning is non-invasive and comes with very minimal downtime. It’s used by those wanting a more youthful and soft complexion, to minimise dullness and the appearance of minor skin damage.
Dermaplaning should be painless, but you may feel a little tingling or heightened sensitivity as the top skin cells are removed. The procedure is carried out with you lying down and a session usually takes around half an hour.
It’s not unusual to experience some redness for a few days immediately following dermaplaning. It takes a few days before you can appreciate the full results.
Dermaplaning isn’t permanent. Its effects last for around three weeks.
Contrary to popular belief, Dermaplaning will not make the hair on your face grow thicker or darker. To illustrate, vellus hair and terminal hair are the different types of hair that grow on the body. Vellus hair is found on most body parts except the lips, genital areas, palms, and soles. In contrast, terminal hairs grow on the scalp, underarms, and pubic region. The hair on your face has soft and fine vellus hair, which will grow at the same texture and speed as before your treatment.
It is recommended to wait for at least 21 days before your next Dermaplaning session. This allows your skin to complete its rejuvenation cycle. However, the frequency of treatments may vary depending on age, individual skin conditions and concerns.
While the aforementioned benefits are tempting, it's important to remember that there are major downsides to dermaplaning if it's not carried out properly. While there are at-home dermaplaning tools available, these aren't medical grade scalpels and it is generally recommended to have the procedure done by a trained professional to minimise the risks. Performing dermaplaning at home without proper training and sterilisation techniques may lead to skin irritation, cuts, infections and even scarring.
